Rules of the Road
As I am studying to achieve my 100 Ton captain’s license I have been learning some valuable information. I plan on passing some of the more important rules on to you through the website with a special section called Rules of the Road and will update on a regular basis. Rules of the Road pertain essentially to driving rules for boats. This is all to help you have a safe and stress-free boating experience both on the river and on the big pond!
Rule 14 (Head-on Situation)
When two power-driven vessels are meeting on reciprocal or nearly reciprocal courses (Dead Ahead) so as to involve risk of collision each shall alter course to starboard (Right) so that each shall pass on the port (Left) side of the other.
Rule 18
A power-driven vessel underway shall keep out of the way of: A sailing vessel (Sailing vessel under sail not under power)
