Pro Glow Pre-Launch Tips
There are quite a few boaters who take advantage of early season launching to enjoy the open water and make their seasons just that much longer. If you haven’t already gotten the itch to launch and begin to prepare your vessel for the big day, now is the time! Plan ahead to make launch day as stress free as possible.
Here are just a few tips to make your launch and beginning of the season an enjoyable one:
Cosmetic Maintenance:
On the hull is much easier on the hard. Clean and wax your hull and inspect your bottom paint (antifouling) for blisters and bare gel-coat. Unprotected gel-coat is subject to costly repairs down the road.
Clean and inspect your bilge. A clean bilge reveals leaks and problems much sooner, possibly saving you a costly repair or trouble at sea.
Check Batteries:
Check All Batteries and charge or replace them if necessary.
Through-Hulls:
Check all through-hull fittings for loose connections or hoses that are cracked. Make sure all of your safety gear is up to date and in good working condition. Check flares, fire extinguishers, PFDs, communication gear, all maps and navigation gear. Keep old flares as spares.
DRAIN PLUG IN?
These are just a few of many important items to check. More can be found at www.BoatUS.com under Spring Launch Checklist.
