Boat Surface Compounding
If your gel-coat has lost its glossy finish and appears faded or chalky even after waxing, chances are your boat needs to be compounded to revive the glossy finish. To revive the finish, the ProGlow Marine Compounding system begins with surface cleaning to remove old wax and contaminants. Next, a compounding material, appropriate for the surface damage, is applied and worked-in using a rotary buffer. Finally, a new coat of wax is applied to prevent future oxidization.
Boat Compounding Service Includes:
- On-site analysis of the extent of oxidation
- Surface cleaned using 3M Sharpshooter to remove old wax and contaminants
- Rotary buff application of the custom-selected compounding material
- Rotary buff removal of the compound material
- Machine-applied wax
- Hand-buffed removal of wax
NOTE: In some cases the boat’s surface may be so oxidized that even heavy-duty rubbing compound won’t revive the glossy finish. In those cases the gel-coat needs to be wet-sanded to remove the oxidized layer.
